Preparing Early Childhood Trainers, Coaches, & Educators
Leading professional development for early childhood educators is a humbling experience. As trainers and coaches, we impact not only adults but also the young children they serve.
When we offer virtual or in-person workshops or coach in the classroom, we owe it to our colleagues to be highly skilled professional development providers. Our participants are devoting their precious time and energy to learn from us.
PD Essentials will prepare you to be a highly competent and confident early childhood/early childhood special education trainer and coach.
Bridging the Gap

Many early childhood leaders have a wealth of knowledge of early childhood. They understand child development, developmentally appropriate practice, recommended practices for young children with delays and disabilities, etc. Through college coursework, inservice training, and years in the classroom, they have wisdom and experience to share.
BUT they are unprepared to train and support adult learners when they move into a leadership role as a director, supervisor, technical assistance provider, or coach. Creating effective and engaging training content, designing slides, using Zoom features, and supporting sometimes resistant adults requires a vastly different skillset from reading Pete the Cat to a group of four-year-olds! PD Essentials is here to help!
Join us for a comprehensive train-the-trainer curriculum designed to enhance the skills of early childhood leaders. Our virtual and in-person workshops cover topics such as understanding adult learners, effective training techniques, and designing and delivering effective training.

Meet the Trainer:
Dr. Jaye Harvey
Dr. Jaye Harvey is the President, CEO, and sole employee (!!) of PD Essentials whose mission is to prepare early childhood/early childhood special education trainers and coaches. Originally an early childhood special education teacher, she has spent most of her career teaching grown-ups! From 2013 until 2024, Jaye served as the State Coordinator for the grant-funded PD Essentials project along with its predecessor, Virginia Cross-Sector Professional Development. Although grant funding has ended, the need to prepare highly skilled early childhood practitioners remains. PD Essentials is now an independent entity.
Join the hundreds of educators who benefit from these trainings.
At PD Essentials, we believe that “teachers and children thrive when we invest in educators, providing them with high-quality professional development and coaching.” (CASTL/VDOE, 2019)
